Cambodia Pride amazing tuk-tuk race

They couldn’t have a parade but Cambodia Pride got creative about their Pride Week activities with an amazing race on tuk-tuks yesterday.
Five teams, including one featuring the British ambassador, braved monsoon rain to race around Phnom Penh’s LGBT-friendly spots. They had to complete various challenges – from getting a team photo in an elevator to a hair cut.
Collette O’Regan, one of Cambodia Pride’s organisers said: ‘The tuk tuk race was truly amazing. We battled monsoon rains and flooded streets to go around and tick all the boxes, creating lots of laughter from on-lookers and generating lots “hello and good byes” from the always friendly Cambodian kids. There was always fun at traffic light stops when more daring playful kids would come and try to break a balloon!
‘The true heroes were the tuk-tuk drivers though as they kept their machines moving through really difficult conditions and all the time appreciating the clock ticking by… hilarious afternoon!’
The Wet Dykes won ‘due to their excellent eye to hand coordination’ they said.
Cambodia Pride Week continues until 19 May. See more photos on their Facebook page here.
